The Sunday, Feb. 17 edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette carried an article by Ron Musselman about the many young men coming out of Pittsburgh who are making a name for themselves in the Juniors, Collegiate, and professional hockey leagues.
The end of the article listed names of those Pittsburgh players who made it to the NHL, are playing Division I hockey, and who have commitments to play Division I hockey. Of special note is the following:
4 out of the 6 Pittsburghers playing this season in the NHL played for the Hornets, including: Ryan Malone, R.J. Umberger, John Zeiler, and Nate Guenin.
15 out of the 21 - 2007/2008 Pittsburghers playing Division I this year played for the Pittsburgh Hornets.
7 out of 7 players with Division I commitments for 2008/2009 played for the Pittsburgh Hornets.
It's nice to see this type of article giving these young men some deserved attention. And the Pittsburgh Hornets are proud that we are a major part of developing this caliber of player. As we state in our mission, the Pittsburgh Hornets are "A Pathway to Opportunity."
